Chelsea Ace Escapes Punishment And Manchester City Are Furious About It

Share

Manchester City and Chelsea have been charged with failing to control their players last Saturday but it seems that Cesc Fabregas has avoided additional sanction after apparently slapping Manchester City midfielder Fernindinho.

Manchester City duo of Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero have been banned for three and four games respectively after receiving their red cards from referee Anthony Taylor which ended a fantastic game on a sour note. The game ended 3-1 in favor to Chelsea.

Aguero was shown a straight red for a reckless tackle on David Luiz in the closing stages of the game which led to tempers rising from both camps and players on the pitch. The horror tackle was followed by a mass brawl and in the events of a scrap Fernandinho saw himself been given the marching orders after pushing Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas into and over  the advertising hoardings.

It was reported that the Brazilian midfielder reacted in an inappropriate manner after the tackle seemingly after Fabregas initiated a slap on the face of the City midfielder. But the Spaniard escaped the involvement with only one booking for the chaos the ensued.

A statement from the FA read: “Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas will not face any further action in relation to an incident involving City’s Fernandinho.”

A few Manchester City stars were furious at the statement and City manager Pep Guardiola said,

“It’s a pity what happened in the last minute and of course we are going to accept the bans from the FA [for Aguero and Fernandinho] and we are going to work with other players for the next games.”

Both clubs have until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the charge. If found guilty of ‘failing to control’ their players on several occasions, they are to be punished heavily

The FA statement read (Via Dailymail): ‘Both Manchester City and Chelsea have been charged for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour.

‘It follows an incident in the 95th minute of the game on Saturday [December 3 2016]. Both clubs have until 6pm on 8 December 2016 to respond to the charge.

‘Off the ball incidents which are not seen at the time by the match officials are referred to a panel of three former elite referees. Each referee panel member will review the video footage independently of one another to determine whether they consider it a sending-off offence. For retrospective action to be taken, and an FA charge to follow, the decision of the panel must be unanimous.’
