Watford is a professional football club based in Watford, Hertfordshire, England. The club were originally founded in 1881 as Watford Rovers and entered the FA Cup for the first time in 1886. Watford joined the Football League in 1920. They spent most of their time in lower league divisions in their history.

The club played at several grounds before moving to the Vicarage Road in 1922. Their nicknames are “The Hornets” and “The Golden Boys”. Watford is currently owned by Gino Pozzo and the Pozzo family.
