Manchester United Football Club, previously known as Newton Heath LYR Football Club was founded in 1878. The club moved to its current stadium, Old Trafford, in 1910.

After Sir Alex Ferguson, United’s long-serving manager stepped down from the hot seat in 2013. The club endured underwhelming seasons under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.

Manchester United, nicknamed “the Red Devils”, are the most successful club in England with 66 major honours including a record 20 top-division titles.

With 253 goals, Wayne Rooney is United’s record goalscorer and the only player to have scored 250 goals for the Red Devils.

Ryan Giggs is not only United’s most decorated player but also in English football history.

Malcom Glazer, an American businessman, purchased United back in May 2005 in a deal valuing the club at almost £800 million.

The club is now run by Avram, Bryan, Joel and Edward Glazer – sons of late billionaire Malcolm Glazer. Although Edward sold his shares off shortly after the death of his father in 2014.

The Glazers also own National Football League side Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
