Carter-Vickers And Janssen Starts – Predicted 4-2-3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Lineup To Face Aston Villa In The FA Cup Tie

Share

Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur side have managed to do the unthinkable this season as they managed to put two past a rampant Chelsea side to halt their incredible winning run this season. As a result, they moved within 7 points of the top of the table and will hope to get better as the season progresses. They will now turn their attention to the FA Cup this week where they were drawn with the Championship outfit Aston Villa in the third round of the competition.

Struggling in the 12th place in the Championship table, Villa will hope to put in a good performance to try and cause an upset but Spurs are in decent form and should see off the danger. Here is the predicted lineup that Pochettino might field for this game:

Team News:

Pochettino has just one injury to worry about as playmaker Eric Lamela is the only player missing this game through injury. But Pochettino is expected to ring in the changes for this FA Cup tie.

Expected lineup:

Michael Vorm:

The backup for Hugo Lloris in the side, Vorm should get his chance in the first team in this game against Villa.

Kieran Trippier:

The 26-year old has been useful at the back for the side in times of injuries and he should be the first choice right back for this game for Spurs.

Cameron Carter-Vickers:

Another youngster who has been on the fringes of the first team for a while now, Vickers is a decent centre back who will give Aston Villa a tough time in this clash.

Jan Vertonghen:

The senior defender in this side for this game, Vertonghen will be responsible for organising his side’s back line in this game against Aston Villa.

Ben Davies:

The full-back has been decent when called upon in the domestic league and Pochettino will hope for a similar performance at the weekend.

Victor Wanyama:

The first choice midfielder for the side, Wanyama has been an impact player for this side this season and he should keep his place in the side for this game.

Harry Winks:

The 20-year old is already getting his chances in the first team in the domestic league and he will have to put in a decent performance against a gritty Villa side in this FA Cup fixture.

Moussa Sissoko:

The former Newcastle man has been effective in the last few games for Spurs and should start on the right wing in this game.

Dele Alli:

The English international has been in sublime form this season and he will have to play an important role if Spurs are to keep their hopes alive in this competition.

Heung-Min Son:

Slowly drifting away from the first team, Son will get few chances to prove himself and this is one such chance where he can help his side to a knockout cup victory.

Vincent Janssen:

Having spent enough time on the bench, Janssen is slowly showing signs of improvement and will lead the attack for the side in this FA Cup tie against Aston Villa.
