Burnley signing this 20-year old Besiktas sensation would be nothing but a massive coup by Sean Dyche

Burnley opinion: Should the Clarets sign Guven Yalcin?

Burnley finished last season with a shock 7th place claiming massive scalps along the way, including wins against Chelsea, Everton, Leicester and a draw against Tottenham. It showed just what solid defending and counter-attacking can do, which is exactly the way Burnley and Sean Dyche did it.

That changed this season with the club failing to do much over the course of the last eight odd months, managing just 11 wins so far. While there is one game left in the season, it comes against top-six side Arsenal.

That should make the tie much harder for the Clarets and their goalscoring issues will play a part. Both Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood have only just managed to find their footing in the Premier League, with 14 of their 21 combined goals coming in 2019.

That alone shows why the club needs a new striker and Sean Dyche’s solution to that was swapping Sam Vokes for Peter Crouch. The 38-year-old has done next to nothing for the club with five appearances from the bench.

Not only that, he hasn’t played since mid-March for the club, which calls into question why the move was even made by the Clarets. It shows why the club needs a new striker in their ranks and it seems that Dyche is targeting exactly that.

Reports from the Lancashire Live have revealed that Burnley are interested in making a move for Guven Yalcin. The former Bayer Leverkusen starlet joined Beskitas at the start of this season on a free transfer and has since made a minimal impact.

However, his recent form has come to Burnley’s attention, which includes a brilliant hat-trick off the bench.

That took his tally to 5 for the season, even adding four assists. All of that has come after November, with the 20-year old making just one appearance before but since then Yalcin has made just 10 starts. It means that half his appearances this season have come off the bench but it hasn’t fazed him.

Add that to his ability to be able to play across the front-line, although he is predominantly a center-forward. All this comes despite the fact that the Turkish-German is a 20-year-old, who has only just started playing regular football at a higher level.

That adds to his value for Burnley and it is a move that will only serve to improve their front-line.

Conclusion

Burnley’s top target in the summer has to be a centre-forward and Guven Yalcin fits that bill. His versatility to play across the front-line will help the Clarets potentially do well next season and add some much-needed competition to the club.
