Predicted Aston Villa line-up to face Blackburn Rovers in the Championship

Aston Villa have had an indifferent start to this season, with the lowest point being a 4-1 loss at Sheffield United just before the international break. However, the late loan signings of Tammy Abraham and Yannick Bolasie should instill more confidence in the team.

Manager Steve Bruce needs to make sure his men are up for the challenge against a Blackburn side who are quite dangerous on their day.

Team News

We can expect debuts to be handed to Bolasie and Abraham. Meanwhile, Scott Hogan, Keinan Davis, Albert Adomah, Birkir Bjarnason and Harry McKirdy are expected to be out for this weekend. Bruce doesn’t have a deep squad to choose his line-up from, but he should have enough to pick a strong team.

Probable Aston Villa XI

Formation: 4-4-1-1

Manager: Steve Bruce

Orjan Nyland (GK)

A twitchy start to the campaign for the goalkeeper, who should do better or risk losing his place.

Axel Tuanzebe (RB)

Villa’s back-line was poor against Sheffield United. Tuanzebe needs to improve if he intends to play for Manchester United in the future.

James Chester

James Chester (CB)

The ever-solid Chester must make sure the defensive line is well marshalled because it was anything but solid in the last game.

Mile Jedinak (CB)

The Aussie has done a fine job at adapting to his new role. However, with Tommy Elphick around, Jedinak should further improve his defensive work.

Alan Hutton (LB)

The veteran always performs and gives his best. Expect him to be protected better by the left-winger.

John McGinn

Yannick Bolasie (LW)

Bolasie’s debut should excite the Villa fans. The Everton loanee really needs to perform from the first minute to boost the confidence in the team.

John McGinn (CM)

The youngster has been one of Villa’s most effective midfielders since his arrival this summer. Should start.

Glenn Whelan (CM)

Whelan’s experience in the middle might help McGinn perform his role better. For Whelan, he needs to improve his defensive side of the game.

Ahmed Elmohamady (RW)

The Egyptian has at times been forced to defend deep, which deters him from making an impact in the attack. He needs to push forward and cross the ball into the box.

Jack Grealish

Jack Grealish (CAM)

Villa must ensure the playmaker gets more touches on the ball so that he can create more chances for the team.

Tammy Abraham (ST)

The deadline day loan signing must be eager to showcase his talent in a Villa shirt.
