Bonatini And Neves To Start – Strongest 5-2-3 Wolves Line-Up To Face Preston North End

Predicted Wolves Line-up To Face Preston North End In The EFL Championship

Wolves finally stamped their authority on this division with a 2-0 win over Midlands rivals Aston Villa last time out, though they’ll need to be at their best here again when they face a very good Preston North End side.

Key man Helder Costa has an ankle problem which may mean striker Leo Bonatini coming back into the side from the start and man of the moment Diogo Jota returning to a slightly wider position. Nuno Espirito Santo will most likely line up in his favoured 5-2-3 formation, which could become a 3-4-3 when required.

Formation: 5-2-3

Manager: Nuno Espirito Santo

GK – John Ruddy

The man from St. Ives remains one of the most underrated goalkeepers in the country and shouldn’t have a problem keeping his place here.

RWB – Matt Doherty

Another surprise package in many ways; Doherty had to fill in at left-back last season in a dour looking Wolves team but has a new lease of life in this role.

CB – Danny Batth

It’s good to see one of last season’s top performers back in the side and he will have to be at his best alongside Coady to look after the huge danger that is Jordan Hugill.

Danny Batth

CB – Conor Coady

He’s now simply a different man from the early parts of his career. The former Liverpool youngster becoming a pretty accomplished defender these days.

CB – Roderick Miranda

One of the myriad Portuguese incomings over the last year or so and a very solid defender in this division.

LWB – Barry Douglas

The ex-Dundee United man fits this role perfectly. His runs down the left provide ideal attacking back-up to the front three.

CM – Romain Saiss

Solid alongside Neves, these two can go through games without much of a mention but remain crucial to the cause.

CM – Ruben Neves

The young midfield player arrived with a massive price tag but has not disappointed this season and will get better still. Games like this are crucial, as he will need to be at his best. However, he may perhaps not be as naturally motivated against Preston as he was against Villa. A big test.

RW – Ivan Cavaleiro

Should Bonatini come back in, Jota may return to the left and so Cavaleiro can show his own versatility by covering for Helder Costa on the right.

Ruben Neves

LW – Diogo Jota

The on-loan Atletico Madrid man has been wonderful this term and can put in another lively showing here.

ST – Leo Bonatini

The Brazilian is more than capable, especially in this league, and may look to protect his place in the team with another goal.
