The biggest striker conundrum this summer: Why This Premier League Star Should Move to Manchester United and Not Chelsea

Share

It is always best for a player to leave a club and move on when things do not seem to be going right, which could eventually benefit both him and the club as well. Similar is the case with Romelu Lukaku of Everton, who is not happy at Goodison Park and wishes to make a move away from the Merseyside outfit, now with the arrival of Ronald Koeman as the new Toffees’ boss.

The Belgian international has not been having the best of times in recent seasons at the club and is looking for a new challenge, after they finished at 11th place in the points table, under former boss Roberto Martinez, who was eventually sacked by the club.

Since making his move to Everton permanent back in 2014, after a short loan spell with the club prior to that, the Belgian international has managed to score 28 goals in 73 appearances for his side, in the top flight of English football.

Prior to that the player was with the former champions of England, Chelsea, though he failed to really impress during his time at Stamford Bridge and was sent away or loan to West Brom as well.

Now, with the Dutchman taking over, the 23 year old striker knows that he is wanted by a host of clubs and might consider the possibility to move away from the club. Keeping that in mind, speculations suggest that he is wanted by the Blues once again and Manchester United are interested in his services as well.

Now, if anyone were to ask me, which club should Lukaku prefer, the answer would be Manchester United definitely!! The reason is quite simple, as well.

There is no point in making a move to Antonio Conte’s side, with the Italian manager looking to retain Diego Costa this summer and will be playing him as the preferred striker. Unless the Brazilian born attacker does indeed make a move away from west London, Lukaku will have to fight for a spot in the playing eleven and share it with the Spanish international. Something that he might not like too much.

On the other hand, under Jose Mourinho’s management with the Red Devils, he might be asked to play a similar role what he played under Martinez. Mourinho is not too much of an attacking manager and the playing style would be full defensive play, along with quick counter-attacking football.

This is something that the player could be good at and he could do for United, what Didier Drogba did for Mourinho during his time with the Londoners.

There are still doubts whether the player will remain in England or probably leave for France, with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the hunt to add him to their current squad, as well, with the departure of Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
