Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero is reportedly linked with a move to Copa Libertadores’ current champions River Plate, however the player himself has denied any such move.
River Plate’s current goalkeeper Marcelo Barovero is expected to leave the club at the end of the season and reportedly Romero will be the best candidate to replace the player.
However the player himself stated that he will not be moving to any other club, during his talks with journalists while arriving in South America for the International friendlies. According to the player, he will not be leaving United anytime soon as he is concentrating on making a permanent spot at Old Trafford for himself and as such has not thought about moving to Argentina.
Roughly tranlating to what he told to ESPN’s Argentina reporters: “No one talked to me, they took it from the press and nothing else, my head is placed in Manchester. In the matches I played, I’ve proved I can play. The dream of mine is to grab this place and defend it, and it doesn’t cross my mind to come to Argentina.”
The player joined Manchester United last summer from Sampdoria in a free transfer and has conceded 8 goals in 13 appearances for the club. As such the player’s contract with United runs till 2018.
