Benitez to make 2 changes – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Newcastle United XI to face Leicester City

Predicted Newcastle United line-up to face Leicester City in the League

Newcastle United face Leicester City at St.James’ Park in a bid to improve their undermining start to the season. To be fair to the Magpies, they have faced Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham in the first six weeks of the season.

But credit goes to Rafa Benitez and his men for not losing any game by a huge scoreline. This should give them some confidence going into this home clash against Leicester. The Foxes are coming into this after a convincing league win against Huddersfield last Saturday and a penalty shootout success against Wolves in the Carabao Cup. Hence, it won’t be easy for the home team.

Team News

Florian Lejeune is out for the long-term, but it is Salomon Rondon’s injury which could concern the manager. The Venezuelan has a thigh injury and isn’t expected to feature on Saturday. Expect Joselu to lead the line.

Probable Newcastle United XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Rafa Benitez

Martin Dubravka (GK)

The Slovakian has been immense since arriving in January. He is one of the few top-class signings by Newcastle in recent times.

De Andre Yedlin (RB)

The American right-back would be expected to add more to his team’s attack by putting in crosses on a regular basis.

Jamaal Lascelles

Jamaal Lascelles (CB)

The captain needs to get his act together and focus on leading a team which needs direction and guidance.

Federico Fernandez (CB)

The Argentine has been good since his arrival in the summer. Expect him to start alongside Lascelles in the absence of Lejeune.

Paul Dummett (LB)

The Welsh international has been defensively good but the Magpies would be hoping that he gets forward to contribute to the team’s attack.

Jonjo Shelvey

Jonjo Shelvey (CM)

Shelvey is fit now and the team needs him in central midfield. The Englishman’s passing range could be key to how they perform on Saturday.

Mohamed Diame (CM)

Diame has been steady in the midfield, covering the ground and shielding the back-line whenever required. An important player in the team.

Matt Ritchie (RW)

The Scot needs to improve his crossing, an attribute which could be important in the Premier League. Apart from that, he does all the work required on and off the ball.

Kenedy (LW)

The Brazilian could be back in the line-up after Jacob Murphy was tried last time around without much success.

Ayoze Perez

Ayoze Perez (CAM)

The Spaniard is expected to perform better than he has been doing so far. Benitez would want him to add more threat to the forward line.

Joselu (ST)

With Rondon certain to be out for this game, Joselu will probably start on Saturday.
