Barcelona have completed the signing of Bordeaux winger Malcom, just a day after Serie A outfit Roma announced that they had agreed to terms for the player.
It seemed as though the Brazilian was set to become a Roma man but Barcelona hijacked the deal in the last minute and have now completed the move for a reported fee of around £36.5million. Malcom has now agreed to a five-year deal with the club, which will keep him at the Camp Nou until 2023.
Barcelona have completed the second Brazilian signing of this summer, following the arrival of Arthur. The former Bordeaux attacker is yet to be capped by his country but it seems like a matter of time before that happens.
Malcom came to prominence rising through the ranks of Brazilian outfit Corinthians’ youth academy before being shifted to the senior squad in 2015. After scoring 7 goals in 51 appearances for the Brazilian club, Malcom made the move to Bordeaux in 2016.
The 21-year-old has since gone on to make a total of 84 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit, scoring 20 goals in that time.
The youngster could become an instant hit at the Camp Nou. With his deadly pace and sizzling trickery on the ball, the Camp Nou will be treated to some sassy Samba magic next season.
Malcom made a total of 35 appearances in the French league last season, scoring 12 goals and providing 7 assists. The youngster is an explosive winger, who possesses the ability to terrorise defenders.
He was predominantly deployed as a right-winger last season but the Brazilian is capable of playing any role up front, such is his versatility.
The Brazilian also possesses the ability to shoot from long range, scoring a number of blinders for Bordeaux last season. He’s also excellent at taking set-pieces.
The former Corinthians attacker averaged 2.1 shots per game last season. With impressive passing ability, Malcom averaged a pass success rate of 82.1% in the Ligue 1 last season.
