According to reports, Bundesliga club Werder Bremen are interested in signing Everton midfielder Davy Klaassen. Even Huddersfield are considering a prospect of signing the player for £23m.
Klaassen was bought last summer under Ronald Koeman, as he captained Ajax side to the Europa League final. However, the 25-year-old central midfielder couldn’t match the expectations at the start and fell down the pecking order.
The Dutchman wasn’t even considered for selection in many games under Sam Allardyce, resulting in him having an underwhelming season. New manager Marco Silva is at the Goodison for a long-term project, and the Portuguese has signalled his intentions by signing a young talent like Richarlison.
He will be eager to build a team ready to challenge the Premier League for a long period of time. The Toffees are keen on a summer revamp to sell some players in order to buy quality players to fit the system.
In spite of the above-mentioned facts, they should keep Klaassen and give him another season to properly show his talent at the Goodison Park.
The Dutchman has won three Eredivisie titles with Ajax in his time in the Netherlands. He was also the captain of a team which exceeded expectations and reached the Europa League final in 2017, only to lose to Manchester United.
Klaassen is a quality player with able technique to use the ball judiciously and cover the spaces while defending.
Perusing his stats of the 2016/17 season with Ajax, he had a pass success rate of 80%, which shows reliability in possession.
Not many passes are strayed coming out of his feet. The 25-year-old also has a good eye for goals and assists, having socred 14 times assisted 9 in 33 league appearances.
He had a key pass rate of 1.8 per game, which shows why he is one of the best to create chances from midfield. Furthermore, the Dutchman doesn’t shy away from making a tackle or two, at an average of 1.6.

Klaassen sure hasn’t been able to harness the impact expected of him last season. However, as noted above, he has the talent and expertise to perform well if given another chance.
