Why Ivan Perisic Is The Man Who Manchester United Need

Manchester United finally managed to land a top class striker in the form of Romelu Lukaku this summer to add to the acquisition of Victor Lindelof to improve their front line and the back line for the next season. Jose Mourinho is now ready to add some mettle to his midfield and one player extensively linked with a move to the club is Croatian international Ivan Perisic.

The Red Devils have been tracking the Inter Milan man for a while now but they have been unable to reach an agreement over the price of the player. United have already agreed on terms with the player but are finding it hard to complete this deal, as reports suggest that Inter Milan are now not ready to sell anymore. But Mourinho should do all it takes to land the experienced international this summer.

A versatile and dynamic forward who is hard to mark in the final third, Perisic is a strong and athletic winger who likes to cut inside more often than not, to create space for himself in the dangerous areas. His sly movements and mesmerising turns make him almost impossible to mark and he is a player who can constantly create chances, even against the best defences in Europe.

With 11 goals and 12 assists in 42 games in all competitions in Italy last season, he is in impeccable form at the moment, and at 28, has already made more than 200 top flight league appearances in three different leagues in Europe, to add to his 57 international appearances for Croatia, making him one of the most established attackers in world football at the moment.

He can play on either wing, in the attacking third or as a part of the midfield three and his ability to balance his attacking instincts with his defensive duties will surely attract Jose Mourinho.

He is disciplined and sticks to his task well, and looking at his attributes, he could be the final piece of the jigsaw that Mourinho is looking to build at Old Trafford. The likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Juan Mata, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard will fight for two places on the wings while Romelu Lukaku should lead the attack for United.

Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera are expected to play as a part of the midfield three and the only player Perisic cannot replace in this list is Lukaku. Mourinho could look to use him in the first team to add balance to his squad and if Perisic can adjust to the challenges of the new league quickly, he could turn out to be United’s most effective signing this summer.
