The 25-year- old joined the Championship club back in 2015 on a four-year deal.  With his contract nearing its end, the Frenchman spoke about his future.

Barbet said, (h/t Football London)

“I’ve been here for four years and had good spells and bad spells. Before this run of fixtures, the last time I had a run of games in my position was the first six months under Dean [Smith].

Now I’m playing every game in my position and enjoying my football. This formation means that there is one more space at centre-back, which gives me an opportunity to play more.”

He also shared his love for the clubs and the fans. The key talking point was when Barbet expressed his uncertainty over his future at the club.

The Frenchman added (h/t Football London)

Maybe I want to see another country and another league. I could end up staying in the Championship, it’s hard to say.

A youth product Bordeaux, Barbet represented the French side’s B team 75 times before moving to Chamois Niortais.

Barbet was a regular during smith’s managerial spell at Bees. And the former Walsall manager is looking to reunite with the left back at Villa Park.

The Lions picked up a 4-0 win against Derby County after going through a slight dip in form.

Tammy Abraham was once again on the score sheet alongside Jack Grealish and Conor Hourihane.
