Aston Villa opinion: Should the Villans sign Trezeguet?

According to a report from the Sun, Aston Villa are set to make an £8million bid for Egyptian forward Mahmoud Trezeguet as Dean Smith continues to work on attacking reinforcements ahead of next season in the Premier League.

Trezeguet has been impressive so far in the Africa cup of nations as Egypt have advanced to knockout stages.

Trezeguet – one of the promising forwards in the Turkish League

The 24-year-old has been a star for Turkish outfit Kasimpasa for the past two seasons, racking up 25 goals and 18 assists in the process.

The former Anderlecht man gave his utmost best though his side finished 14th in the table last season. And Trezeguet has successfully translated his form to the international arena, bagging a goal and an assist so far in the AFCON.

Why the Villans should move for Trezeguet

The Villans are currently in need of quality wide men as they have parted ways with the 31-year-old Albert Adomah.

Having captured the Dutch winger Anwar El Ghazi permanently from Ajax, Villa still can reap rewards from the services of the highly-talented Trezeguet.

The Egyptian forward’s attacking index has been an outstanding one in last season’s Super Lig as he averaged 3.3 dribbles and 2.2 key passes per game.

And his inclination in the attacking third can be clearly seen from his average of 4 shots per game. A highly versatile forward, Trezeguet can also operate as a centre-forward and is also familiar with the attacking midfield role.

Despite failing to fit into the Belgian Premier League at the beginning of his career, the North African has made steady progress ever since he switched to Turkey.

Verdict

The Lions are currently brimming with confidence as they have made a few good signings. With the addition of Trezeguet, the Villans’ attacking line-up will surely wreak havoc in England’s top tier.
