According to a report from Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa are facing heavy competition for Genk striker Mbwana Samatta, with Turkish outfit Galatasaray joining the race for the striker.
The report also adds that the Tanzanian international is valued at £12m and is also on the radar of fellow Premier League clubs Watford and Leicester City. (h/t Birmingham Mail)
The Villans are having a productive time in the ongoing transfer window, as they have made a flurry of signings ahead of their Premier League return.
Samatta endured a brilliant season with the Belgian outfit, racking up 32 goals and 6 assists in all competitions.
The 26-year-old ended up as the top goalscorer (20 goals) in Belgium’s top-flight last season and played a great role behind Genk’s title win.
Having earned 45 international caps so far, Samatta was the highest goalscorer for four subsequent seasons in Congolese top-flight when he played for Mazemme. He has scored 86 goals and 25 assists in his career so far, playing for three different clubs
Ever since he moved to Belgium in 2016, the African goal machine adapted well to the temperament, as there has been a steep rise in his goalscoring ratio.
The Villans have already signed Wesley Moraes from Genk’s fellow rivals Brugge but it doesn’t imply that they shouldn’t prioritize a striker anymore.
Wesley, 22, had a great season like Samatta but the attacking index of the Brazilian is completely outscored by the latter. Wesley was not even among the top ten goalscorers in the league last season.
The Brazilain striker does hold the profile for being a deadly forward but Samatta has the upper hand when it comes to the numbers and experience.

With the possible addition of the Tanzanian striker, the stakes would rise for Wesley and on the whole, the Villans would have a formidable attacking unit.
Deam Smith has splurged a lot in the current transfer window, keeping the upcoming Premier League campaign in mind. Though they have added enough players in the attacking line-up, Samatta would still be a great signing and he also comes with an affordable price tag.
