Arsenal vs Aston Villa prediction: Arsenal line-up

Arsenal had their most impressive win of the campaign so far when they beat Eintracht Frankfurt away from home in the Europa League group stages in midweek and will be hoping to carry some of that form into their home game against Aston Villa.

This was off the back of a very poor defensive display against Watford last weekend, which had many questioning Unai Emery and some of Arsenal’s new signings.

Their opponents will be looking to survive the league and will try and frustrate the Gunners. Arsenal will have to play a strong squad and do a lot better than they did against Watford.

Team News

Alexandre Lacazette will not be available due to an ankle injury that’s going to keep him out of the side for a while.

Kieran Tierney, Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding are back in training but not any closer to starting a Premier League game.

Saed Kolasinac is a doubt after picking up a slight muscle injury after the midweek fixture.

Predicted XI

Manager – Unai Emery

Bernd Leno – Goalkeeper

The German was fantastic in midweek and has been one of Arsenal’s most improved players.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles – Right-back

The academy graduate had an awful performance last week and will be hoping that he can play in midfield soon.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos – Centre-back

The German had a poor game against Watford and will be hoping he does better in this game.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos

David Luiz – Centre-back\

Another player who didn’t have a good game against Watford but looked more assured in midweek.

Sead Kolasinac – Left-back

He’s got a little knock but he should still be available.

Granit Xhaka – Holding midfield

He has to play simply cause he’s the only one capable of initiating attacks from deep.

Dani Ceballos – Central midfield

The Spaniard will be busy in the middle of the park and will have to be at his best because Villa have a good midfield.

Matteo Guendouzi – Central midfield

The youngster was fantastic against Spurs but less so against Watford. They’ll need him to find more consistency.

Joe Willock – Attacking midfield

He put in a fantastic performance against Eintracht Frankfurt and he’ll hope he can do the same against Villa.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Centre-forward

He’s already got 6 goals in all competitions and Villa are going to find it very difficult to stop him.

Nicolas Pepe – Centre-forward

The Ivorian will be hoping that he can get off the mark finally.
