Which Arsenal Star Apart From Flamini Did Well Against Spurs? Here are the Player Ratings

Mathieu Flamini scored twice as Arsenal beat North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 to book their place in the fourth round of the League Cup. The French midfielder gave the Gunners a first-half lead with a tap-in after Michel Vorm had spilled Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s fierce shot. After the break Spurs drew level as Calum Chambers could only divert a cross from Nacer Chadli into his own net. However, with 11 minutes left to play Flamini fired a volley from the edge of the box into the bottom corner to put Arsenal into the fourth round.

David Ospina- 7

Couldn’t do a lot to prevent Chamber’s own goal otherwise a confident and assured performance after a dreadful game against Dinamo Zagreb last week. Made some fine saves to deny the Spurs attack. Will be Arsenal’s cup keeper this season due to the presence of Cech.

Mathieu Debuchy-4

Doesn’t look the same player that Arsene Wenger bought last year, had a torrid time dealing with the pace of Danny Rose. He even failed to pick Chadli for Tottenham’s equalizer. Needs to improve a lot if he wants to get back into the team.

Per Mertesacker- 7

Returned to the starting XI after recovering from a virus, his experience was vital when Tottenham were going for the winner in the second half. Looks better when he alongside Koscielny. Won almost everything in the air.

Calum Chambers- 6

Despite scoring an own goal, the youngster looked solid against the likes of Kane and Son. Didn’t allow Kane any sort of space in and around the Arsenal penalty box.

Kieran Gibbs- 6

Made a superb block on the line to deny a goalbound header from Kane. He doesn’t particularly inspire defensive confidence but turned into a vital attacking component when Arsenal were on the up.

Mikel Arteta- 6

Produced a far more reliable display than during last week’s European defeat and gave good protection to the back four. Very tidy in his passing, kept things ticking over for Arsenal.

Mathieu Flamini- 9

His future at Arsenal still looks bleak but what a game the Frenchman had. Got Arsenal ahead with a brilliant close-range finish before smashing in a sensational volley for the winner. His love for the club was visible as he celebrated with fans after the final whistle.

Joel Cambell- 5

Eager to make an impression in his first start his January, but disappointed as he struggled to get any sort of foothold in the match. Should have been helping Debuchy on the right flank but failed to do anything significant defensively.

Aaron Ramsey- 6

The only player that started the game against Chelsea on Saturday. Struggled to get into the game from his preferred number 10 position but once the rhythm came back, he looked a totally different player. Provided two excellent chances for Sanchez and Giroud.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain-7

By far Arsenal’s most dangerous Arsenal player in the first half troubled the Tottenham defense with his quick dribbling. He played a crucial part in the opener.

Olivier Giroud-6 

Battled hard against Fazio and Wimmer all evening and put in a lot of effort. Missed a glorious chance when his close-range shot was kept out by Vorm. Will need to do a lot better, if he wants to replace Walcott in the starting XI.
