Arsenal Latest: Including Coquelin And Gervinho

Arsenal have confirmed that midfielder Francis Coquelin will join Bundesliga side SC Freiburg next season on loan. The French U-21 International will be on a season long loan at Freiburg in an attempt to rebuild his career as the midfielder hopes to break into the Gunners first team at some point. Coquelin had signed a contract extension in January 2012 but hardly received the opportunity to play for the side. A stint in Germany will certainly help him to boost in confidence and gather some valuable experience.

Speaking to the media during his unveiling at the German club, Coquelin said,

“I’m very proud to sign for Freiburg. First of all my aim is to add up well with the teammates, I’ve not met them yet. Then I want to have a good season with Freiburg. I met the coach and a few people in the club, everyone has been very nice to me up to now, so as I say I’m very happy to be here and now I’m waiting for the season to start.”

Although versatile and certainly a talented midfielder, Coquelin couldn’t get his way past the likes of Arteta and Ramsey and had to settle for the odd substitute appearances.  So does this mean, Arsene Wenger is making way for a defensive midfield signing? Well, we have to wait for it. 

In other news, Gervinho is linked with a move back to Ligue 1. Marseille, who have shown interest in the Ivorian previously, have had a meeting with him regarding a possible move.
