Brendan Rodgers celebrated his new four-year contract with Celtic by watching his side trump Kilmarnock 3-1 at the Celtic Park.
The home team opened the scoring halfway through the first period when Stuart Armstrong buried the ball into the net from outside the box. The visitors emerged from their defensive shell to grab an unlikely leveler in the 65th minute through wide-man Jordan Jones. However, Scott Sinclair restored Celtic’s lead from close range, 6 minutes later with his 23rd goal of the season and winger James Forrest added a 3rd to put the game to bed.
Celtic remain unbeaten in the Scottish Premiership after 32 games and moved on to 90 points. Here is how the Celtic players fared:
Could not do much to keep the goal out as he was caught out due to the deflection. Other than that, he wasn’t called upon much in the game.
Made several good forward runs, and his end product into the box was also good. Did his job steadily at the back. An all-round performance from the full-back.
A quiet afternoon for the Croatian defender at the back, as he was hardly tested by the Kilmarnock attack.
Much like his partner Simunovic, the former Manchester City defender had a quiet game and did well when called upon.
Another typical performance filled with attacking intent and vigour from the full-back. Asked some serious questions of the Kilmarnock defence and was unlucky not to score in the first-half from a stunning volley.
Another combative display in the middle of the park by the captain. Battled well and helped his side move up the pitch.
Showed some fine touches in the centre of the pitch. His passing too was accurate and crisp. A through ball almost set Brown in on goal in the first-half.
Was a constant threat from the right-flank and caused some serious issues cutting in from the wing. Confirmed the win for his side with a headed goal in the second period.
Opened the scoring from a powerful driven shot from 25-yards out. Was always a dangerous presence in the attacking third. Has been on fire of late.
Dominant display on the wings from the attacker. The visitors’ defence struggled to cope with his pace and skills. Was rewarded with a goal in the second half.
The Manchester City loanee was a let-down up front for Celtic. Looked like an insubstantial presence in attack and was rightly taken off in the second period.
Replaced McGregor in the 72nd minute. Looked bright.
Came on to replace Roberts in the 74th minute to mark his return from injury.
Came on for Armstrong in the 84th minute.
