West Ham finally picked up their first win in 6 games with a nervy 1-0 victory over Swansea at the London Stadium to ease some pressure off manager Slaven Bilic.
Midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate opened the scoring for West Ham against the Swans after 44 minutes, with a pile-driver of a shot. The Hammers managed to hold on to their one-goal lead to clinch what could be crucial three points in the business end of the season.
The win sees West Ham move 8 points clear of the relegation zone at 14th place and could prove to be the springboard for them to mount a recovery in the upcoming weeks.
Here’s how the West Ham players fared on the afternoon.
Did not have a lot to do and was a spectator for long portions of the game except for a flap at a cross that almost ended up costing them.
Was as solid as they came on the right-side. Dealt well with the threat of Wayne Routledge and Jefferson Montero. One of his better performances this season.
Finally got a clean sheet and his performance thoroughly deserved it. Did a great job in marking Gylfi Sigurdsson out of the game. Hardly gave the Icelandic international a sniff.
It was a colossal performance from the defender at the back. Made plenty of vital blocks throughout the game and was especially solid in the second half to snuff out any danger. Made a goal-line clearance after Randolph flapped at a cross.
A solid game for the left-back. Was fairly steady for most parts of the game, but was put under some pressure after the introduction of Luciano Narsingh. Dug in and did well.
Scored the only goal of the game with a bullet strike. Stepped up and bossed the midfield in the second-half when his team needed him the most.
Marked his 400th game for West Ham. Made some decent challenges and got forward well but on quite a few occasions, put his defenders under pressure. Looked tired towards the end.
The Argentine was a real live wire in the middle of the park and was almost untouchable. Brilliant in possession, excellent distribution. Was booked for a silly dive in the second period.
Unlucky not to score from a header, but apart from that, he was fairly quiet for the rest of his time on the pitch. Taken off with 20 minutes to spare.
Looked threatening for a good part of 30 minutes before going quiet. Was taken off injured in the 40th minute, and it looks much more serious than the midweek game.
Once again a willing runner for large phases of the game. Was keen to impress against his former side, but should have done better with the two chances he got late in the game before being taken off.
Came on for the injured Antonio. Showed a couple of nice touches, but looks way out of his depths at times.
Replaced Snodgrass in the 70th minute. Injected pace and provided an outlet on the flank.
Came on for Ayew with less than five minutes to play to protect the lead.
