Predicted Everton Line-up To Face Swansea City In The Premier League

Everton host Swansea City on Monday night as they look to keep their resurrection on track. A month ago, they were in serious trouble and weren’t looking comfortable in any part of their game. Since Sam Allardyce’s appointment, there is an aura of trust, a sense of belief and confidence has been instilled in the players and they have climbed up to 10th place in the table.

The Toffees have picked up 10 points from their last 4 games and it’s their defensive shape and structure that has slammed doors on the opposition.

Allardyce has worked extremely hard on the shape and structure of the team, something he is known for. Some of their players have also lifted themselves up, including the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Wayne Rooney and Gylfi Sigurdsson, the latter is also set to play against his old club on Monday.

Swansea City might not give up soon but for them to get anything out of the game, the relegation battlers will have to repeat their previous performance. The Swans picked up a crucial 1-0 win over West Brom and will look to stifle Everton on Monday.

Team News

The biggest news of the weekend is here as Yannick Bolasie is set to return after spending a year on the sidelines due to a knee injury. James McCarthy, Seamus Coleman, Funes Mori and Ross Barkley remain out with long-term injuries while Leighton Baines is not in contention due to a calf issue.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Sam Allardyce

Defence and Goalkeeper

Jordan Pickford will guard the goal for Everton. His distribution and shot stopping abilities are up there with the best in the league and Everton don’t have someone better than that.

At the back, Cuco Martina should play down the left as his pressing has improved in recent weeks. However, his tackling has been inconsistent. This is one area he really needs to improve in and not commit rash challenges.

Ashley Williams (left)

Ashley Williams should play at the heart of the defence. His strength and man marking is a lot to cheer about and he would love to keep a clean sheet against his old club.

Mason Holgate should accompany him. The youngster signed a new contract recently, so we can expect a decent performance from him.

Jonjoe Kenny has challenged for the man of the match award on a few occasions and he should continue down the right.

Midfield

Morgan Schneiderlin should play as a holding midfielder and the Frenchman can just sit back and look to make interceptions, possibly breaking Swansea attacks up.

Idrissa Gueye should play as the second defensive midfielder and will look to latch on to any player and be a menace to the Swans.

Aaron Lennon has a knack for creating big chances and moments of magic and should play on the right wing.

Wayne Rooney

Gylfi Sigurdsson‘s game has certainly gone up by a few levels and he will look to provide as much service as possible.

Wayne Rooney has been in tremendous goalscoring form and has used his experience to great effect. He should play behind the striker.

Attack

Calvert-Lewin should lead the attack. He really keeps the defenders on their toes and always runs at them, with or without the ball. The youngster is an aerial threat and his energy will be crucial for Everton.

Here’s how the Toffees could line up:

Akarshak (Ishu) Roy
