Predicted Hull City line-up to face Reading in the Championship

The Tigers’ twitchy start to the season continued at Wigan Athletic when they lost the game 2-1 on Tuesday. They now travel to Reading to face another tough challenge in the Championship. Hull City have underperformed so far this season, and an improvement is a must.

The Tigers are languishing at 19th place in the table, way off the pace in terms of having any chance of Premier League promotion. However, these are still early days and they still have time to turn it around. Adkins and his men have to start that by giving a good account of themselves against Reading.

Team News

Ondrej Mazuch is back in training but may not be fit enough to be involved this weekend, while James Weir and Daniel Batty remain out of action.

Probable Hull City XI

Formation: 4-4-1-1

Manager: Nigel Adkins

David Marshall (GK)

Had it not been for Marshall, Hull City would have conceded more goals this season. He needs to continue doing a good job for the team.

Eric Lichaj (RB)

A solid performance last time out, which would have boosted his confidence. Should start this game.

Jordy de Wijs (CB)

His partnership with Tommy Elphick at the back will be crucial for Hull City. They just need to improve their performance level.

Tommy Elphick (CB)

The Aston Villa loanee is a key figure at the back. Would need more games together with De Wijs to really form a partnership.

Stephen Kingsley (LB)

Struggled against Wigan, partly due to the fact that he just recovered from a rib injury. Hull fans would expect more from him on Saturday.

Todd Kane

Todd Kane (LW)

Was left out for the previous game, but Adkins could recall him and anticipate a positive response.

Jackson Irvine (CM)

Started on the left side of the midfield against Reading and struggled defensively. He’d be better off playing centrally with captain Markus Henrikson.

Markus Henrikson (CM)

The skipper laboured in the last game to control the opposition. He would be aiming to do better this weekend.

Jarrod Bowen (RW)

Scored a goal on Tuesday and as has been the case this season, he continues to be one of the better players in the Tigers’ line-up.

Evandro

Evandro (CAM)

The Brazilian wasn’t included in the squad last time out. He may start the game against Reading.

Fraizer Campbell (ST)

The gamble of playing Chris Martin and Nouha Dicko didn’t work, as a result, we may see Campbell back in action on Saturday.
