5 EPL Stars Who Could Be Left As Free Agents Next Season, But Have The Potential To Play For Other CLubs – Arsenal And Newcastle Stars Feature In The List

Share

The search for a bargain buy really does help a team out, though getting a free agent is not the easiest in the world, there isn’t much harm in trying to sign someone without having to pay millions of euros for a player.

Liverpool have tried their luck with free agents in recent years with Joe Cole and James Milner with varying degrees of success and so have the likes of Arsenal, Everton and Chelsea. We look ahead to the next season and list out five players who would be out of contract but could well do a great job next season.

Rolando Aarons

The Newcastle youngster was expected to be the next big thing but Aarons hasn’t got enough opportunities to prove himself to the Premier League or to the Newcastle fans. The 20-year-old would be a free agent come the end of the season and no one knows where he could end up going.

Arsenal are just one of the clubs who are looking to sign the much touted and talented attacker but it will be worth seeing just where he does land up next season.

John Terry

John Terry

It was a shocking decision to hear John Terry wouldn’t be getting a contract for Chelsea next season. Another problem like the Steven Gerrard one, Terry expected to finish his career at the London club but that won’t happen and he probably will not sign for another Premier League club also.

The inkling is that Terry will move to the MLS and that would be the best option for him, though at 35, Terry could provide a lot more than just leadership values at whichever club he does join.

Mikel Arteta

Arsenal may or may not win the league this season but they could be losing one of the best midfielders in the league in Mikel Arteta. The 33-year-old Spaniard hasn’t been able to stay fit this season and with a large number of midfielders already in the side, he seems to be surplus to requirements.

Arteta though could be a great player for any team in the league or it seems that he would be moving to the Spanish league where the pace of the game is a little slow and Arteta could spin his magic there.

Mathieu Flamini

Another Arsenal player who would probably be leaving the club is Flamini. The Frenchman did leave Arsenal on a free transfer to join AC Milan a few years ago and that could be the case this time around for the Gunners as well.

This time however, it won’t leave as big a void as it did the last time thanks to the rising star that is Francis Coquelin.

Freddie Woodman

Freddie Woodman

Newcastle does seem to be losing out on a lot of youngsters with Freddie Woodman being the next player who is running out of a contract. The 19-year-old might not be a Premier League starter at the moment but he has a great future ahead of him.

Woodman isn’t an outfield player but a goalkeeper and who knows, he could be the next Jack Butland in the coming season.
