4 Players That Pep Guardiola Would Prefer To Sign For Manchester City Including This Chelsea Target

Share

The entire footballing world seems to be looking towards the prospect of Pep Guardiola joining Manchester City. Pep has achieved immense success wherever he has gone and would be looking to replicate the same with Manchester City. The Manchester club would be hoping that in Pep they have finally found the one that might lead them to Champions League glory. But to be honest, the club has to go through a lot of restructuring to make them a team that is good enough to dominate the likes of European powerhouses like Barcelona and Real Madrid. This brings us to the question that which players Pep might try to get at Manchester City. We look at four such names that Pep Guardiola might try to sign for Manchester City.

Jonas Hector-

The FC Koln man has been in a fine run of form this season. With the performances of both Clichy and Kolarov taking a dip in the second half of the season, Pep would be looking to get some fresh legs in that position. Hector has been quite brilliant at times this season. He is an absolute delight to watch while going forward and passing good crosses inside the opponent box. This season he has created 47 chances and has a pass accuracy of 81%. He has also made 61 interceptions and 82 clearances in this season.  At 25 years of age, he might be the player that gives Pep and Manchester City a huge uplift in the next season.

Mats Hummels-

The German defender has again started producing a lot many good performances. After having an average last season, he seems to be getting to his best again this season. Hummels would be the ideal replacement for Kompany. There are a lot many reports stating that Kompany will be put up on sale and City would need a good replacement to lead the defence. Hummels is a strong powerful and clever defender. He is a proper example of a good ball playing centre-back and that is what Pep always likes in his teams. At 27 years of age, the defender is heading towards the prime in his career and Pep might be the one to snap him up in the coming transfer season.

Ikay Gundogan-

One of the best central midfielders in Europe, if not the best. Gundogan has been in sublime form this season. His link up plays with attackers of Dortmund has been a pleasure to watch and some of the through balls that he has put in this season were just brilliant. He is the kind of player that fits into any team and Pep would be looking at him to replace an ageing Manchester City midfield. If Pep lands him up at City, his link up with the like of Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling will be a joy to watch. Not to forget his through balls to Aguero from the centre of the field would be a pleasure to watch too. He is 25 and already looks matured enough to take on any opponent. He seems like the perfect fit for a Pep managed Manchester City midfield.

Paul Pogba-

One of the best young talent in the world and one of the most sought after too. Barcelona and Chelsea have been long linked with him. But it might be Pep that ropes in the midfielder. There are reports that Yaya Toure would be one of the first players that Pep wants to sell. Pogba seems the perfect replacement that fills in the gap that would be left by Toure. Pogba too can play in a number of midfield positions and is a high utility player.

He is a player who can become the world’s best under Pep. The Spaniard too likes players who provide high utility and can do wonders with Pogba in his team. With City never hesitating to break the bank, roping in Pogba wouldn’t be a problem and if they manage to sign the French International, their midfield will be the one to watch out for in next season’s English Premier League.
