According to an exclusive report from Italian publication Calciomercato, West Ham are set to battle Napoli for the signing of Genoa’s young sensation Christian Kouame.
The report reveals that the Hammers are convinced by the Ivorian’s abilities and are keen to bring him to the Olympic stadium but Genoa will not let him leave for any amount below €25million in the summer.
West Ham have struggled for form in recent games and have dropped out of the race for a top-7 finish in the Premier League. Felipe Anderson’s brilliant start to life in England has hit a speed bump and his lack of creativity has hurt Manuel Pellegrini’s side massively.
Another concern for the Chilean manager has been Marko Arnautovic’s form. The Austrian has been in terrible form after his transfer saga in January.
Arnautovic could still leave the Hammers in the summer thanks to a clause in his contract that makes him available for £45million despite signing a new deal with the club.
West Ham will need a replacement for the former Stoke City man if he decides to leave in the summer and signing Christian Kouame would be a fantastic move by Pellegrini’s side in the summer.
The 21-year-old only joined Genoa earlier this season. His performances have caught the eyes of many and he has become a fan-favourite at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris this season.
Kouame has 4 goals and 6 assists so far, which is a massive achievement for somebody so young, in his debut campaign.
Kouame played along with current AC Milan sensation Krzysztof Piatek, who scored 13 goals before making the switch in January. Kouame had a massive influence in Piatek’s performances and formed a lethal partnership with him up-front.
The young Ivorian’s willingness to make himself available for a pass is exceptional and despite not being the tallest, he wholeheartedly goes up for every single aerial duel.
His movement in and around the box is highly commendable and he can be a real asset, next to another striker in West Ham.

West have should have no second thoughts about signing Christian Kouame in the summer. Manuel Pellegrini should take the young Ivorian under his wing to help him achieve his full potential.
Still only 21, Kouame could lead the Hammers front line for a long time and West Ham should beat Napoli to his signing in the summer.
