3 Tottenham Superstars Likely To Be Chased Around By Europe’s Heavyweights

Share

Tottenham have had a very good outing this year in the Barclays Premier League. They are currently second in the league and are 5 points off from the leaders Leicester City. They are still the favourite off the bookies to lift the title. When you have such a good performance going on, it indicates that your players have been outstanding performers and given Tottenham’s past, one can ideally guess that top European clubs will come hunting for their best players and they will eventually succumb to the big money powerhouses. Let us look at 3 players who might leave Tottenham at the end of the current season.

Harry Kane

The man who has been Tottenham’s talisman for two seasons now. He always gets goals. He always creates a chance. He always does something. In 29 appearances this season, he has scored 17 goals and has created 34 chances and has one assist to his name. In the 2014/15 season, he scored 21 goals and was the highest scorer in the league at a tender age of 21. Following that he was included as one of two forwards in the PFA Team of the Year, alongside Chelsea’s Diego Costa. He was also voted the PFA Young Player of the Year. And along came the reports of a £45million from Manchester United, who were looking for someone who could get a fresh flow of energy in to the squad. After two unsuccessful bids, they finally turned their their attention to Antony Martial.

The fact that Tottenham were not willing to let a 21 year old striker go for £45million speaks volume for the quality this player possesses. With another transfer period coming pretty soon, there should be a number of suitors looking to land this young talent. Also this season has proved that Kane is not a one season wonder like many claimed at the end of last season. I doubt if he will want to leave England and go abroad but you never know. Real Madrid will be looking to replace Benzema pretty soon and Tottenham has been their shopping market before as well.

Dele Alli

Just 19 years of age and his name is always there in the Tottenham starting line up. What an impact this guy has made this season. He might as well be the contender for the PFA Young Player of the Year award. Alli has scored seven goals this season, creating 38 chances and has six assists to his name as well. He has completed 662 passes this season with a pass accuracy of 76%, of which 81% were forward passes, which has led to positive comments both from Pochettino and Hodgson.

Because of his performances, he was rewarded a new long term contract which keeps him at the White Hart Lane till 2021. But when you play like that, you expect the big money names to notice. This player has such a work rate that he can easily fit in to any team and with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City and other big names trying to rebuild their team, you can be rest assured that they will never fend away their interest from such a talented youngster.

Christian Eriksen

While many credit everything to Harry Kane, I personally think it’s Eriksen who is the heart and soul of Tottenham. The whole team is built around the Denmark international. While netting goals is what a team needs and Kane does it for them, creating them for Kane is where Eriksen is a master. In this season’s English Premier League, Eriksen has scored five goals and has created 88 chances. He also has eight assists to his name. Eriksen has completed 1040 passes this season with a pass accuracy of 81%, of which 73% were forward passes. Last season he scored ten goals and created 83 chances. In the 2013/14 season, he scored 7 goals and created 68 chances and had a pass accuracy of 82%.

There was a reason why Alex Ferguson wanted him when he was in charge. It’s only a matter of time that someone huge picks him up. With such great talent at his possession, I would expect him to be lured away to something bigger and greater at the end of the current season. The scouts of Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG and a few others are already watching him and at an age of 24, it is the right time to sign the Dane.
