3 Serie A Stars Who Might Join Chelsea Along With Antonio Conte Including Former Manchester United Youngster

Share

It seems almost inevitable that Conte will become the next Chelsea manager. Numerous reports have emerged that he will be announced as the next Chelsea boss as early as next week. His achievements with Juventus is something worth applauding and the Blues faithful hope he achieves the same with Chelsea. He is expected to make a number of signings once he is the Chelsea boss and with him being a huge fan of Italian football it seems quite obvious that he will go back to Seria A and look for bright prospects from there.

Let us look at 3 players that he should sign from Seria A once he takes over at Stamford Bridge.

Paul Pogba:

Conte is a great admirer of the young Frenchman. He was the one to sign him at Juventus and offered him a fresh life after the teenager’s frustration with Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United. And what a signing he has been. Arguably, the most sought after teenager in world football right now.

Reports suggest that Barcelona have given up their interest in Paul Pogba with the likes of Arda Turan and Sergi Roberto performing well and with La Masia products knocking on the door. With Chelsea looking to reshuffle their squad, the talented Frenchman should be the first one that Conte might sign. Even though Pogba can play a variety of roles in the midfield, Conte should put the Frenchman in a central role and build a team around him. At 22 years of age, he is one of the brightest prospect in world football.

Nikola Maksimovic:

Also known as “the Next Vidic”. For those who don’t follow Serie A, Maksimovic is a 24 year old central defender from Serbia who was loaned to Torino from Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade. Following his impressive performances in the loan spell they decided to exercise the right to purchase him that keeps him tied to the club till 2020.

Standing at 6ft 4in, he is considerably agile combined with a predisposition in the air and marking opponents. He has grown up as a Central Defender although at times he can play as Defensive Midfielder as well. The Serbian is supposed to be one of the brightest defensive prospects in Seria A right now. With Chelsea trying to find a replacement for club legend John Terry, and with a number of failed bids for John Stones, Maksimovic provides to be an excellent replacement. He along with Kurt Zouma can well form a partnership that may rule the Premier League for a number of years.

Gonzalo Higuain:

Conte is a huge fan of playing two strikers up front. Chelsea have been playing with a single striker formation for quite some seasons now. With Diego Costa up front, Chelsea need another quality striker to partner him. Also with Costa’s history with injury, Conte needs a striker who can lead the attack in his absence and maybe provide a tip or two to other strikers like Remy and Traore. There in comes the name of Gonzalo Higuain. The man who is currently a star player for Italian side Napoli.

Gonzalo Higuaín, in the Italian Serie A, has scored 26 goals this season, and registered two assists. Last season season he scored 18 goals and created 48 chances in total. The year before he scored 17 goals and created 25 chances. Scoring goals and creating chances just doesn’t seem to be the Argentine’s problem. With other EPL clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal also on the Frenchman’s trail, Conte should waste no time and snap up the prolific striker as soon as he takes over at Chelsea.
