3 Reasons Why This Quick Dribbler Will Be A Perfect January Addition For Chelsea

Share

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are currently at the top of the Premier League table this season, showing some serious consistency under the new manager. The Italian at the helm of the Bridge will be happy with his team’s performances but is looking to add a few players to the squad this January and the latest name linked with the Blues is Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore. The 20-year old is a product of the La Masia academy in Catalonia and also has an appearance for the Barcelona senior side in the two years he was at the Camp Nou. However, he was sold off to Aston Villa a couple of years ago and then moved on to Middlesbrough where he finally is showing some form.

Capable of playing deep or up ahead on the left-flank, the young winger is a potential superstar but is still learning the trade. However, Conte is convinced that he can improve the squad and is looking to add him as a cover for first choice wing-back Victor Moses. Though not a wing-back by trait, Traore is more than capable of playing in that position and here are three reasons why he will be an able deputy for Victor Moses this season:

His attributes:

The 20-year old is one of the most exciting players in the league and is someone who can make things happen from nowhere. Antonio Conte is impressed by the performances put in by Moses this season and Traore is a player with similar attributes. He is quick, loves to dribble and is commanding on the ball. He loves to take on his player to go beyond the defenses and is adept and accurate with his crosses in the final third. His attacking contribution might reduce as a wing-back but he will surely be as effective as Victor Moses in Conte’s system.

Conte system:

The Italian manager loves to use a 3-4-3 system, which depends not just on the attacking winger but also on the wing-backs to provide width during the game. Victor Moses, the attacking player that he is, has been able to find some joy in the final third as the system allows him to play his natural game. Similarly, Traore will also have a similar role to play in the squad and like already mentioned, though he may not be able to provide as much support at the back, he will surely be an effective player going forward. His attacking instincts are of the highest order and if given enough time, Traore might turn out to be a better option than Moses for Chelsea.

His age:

And most importantly, Traore’s age is what makes him an attractive option for Chelsea. At just 20, the Middlesbrough man has made 6 appearances for the Spain U19 side and has played 15 Premier League games thus far. He played 63 games for Barcelona B in Spain and at his age, he has already gathered loads of experience. Yet, he is still at the start of his career and is still learning. He will get better the more game time he gets and Conte will be determined to give him enough chances if he decides to make a move for him. Traore is a decent player who can improve most squads and Chelsea will be happy to have him as a deputy to Moses for the rest of the season.
