3 Realistic Summer Targets For Arsenal This Summer

Share

Arsenal have clicked it in style, they have been on a charge in the second half of the season and had they started the season like they are playing now, they could have had a bigger say in the title race. Arsenal have had a few issues this season, especially in the centre of defence and in the heart of their midfield and they do need to strengthen these areas if they are to mount a serious title challenge next season.

With Arsene buying big in the last two years, the Gunners could make a few big purchases next season. We look at 3 players who Arsenal can target which could make the Gunners a much better team next season.

1. Mats Hummels

Matt Hummels

The 25-year-old German centre back might have been one of Dortmund’s most loyal players over the years, but that loyalty would be put to a stern test or two come the start of next season. Jurgen Klopp leaving Dortmund might lead to a huge talent drain and that could lead to Hummels moving away from the club.

Arsenal have always been in need of another central defender and while Hummels would not be a cheap option at all, he could be that one signing in the defensive region that could make Arsenal all that stronger next season, strong enough to maybe mount a title charge.

2. Sami Khedira

While Arsenal do have defensive problems, they still need a central midfielder who can control the game. They have Coquelin doing a pretty good job but that is in a more defensive role, Arsenal need someone like a Kroos or a Carrick and Khedira could just be that player. Khedira will be out of contract next season and that should be good enough for most clubs to chase after the World Cup winner.

Khedira might have had an injury plagued season and has been out of favour at Real Madrid but he still is one of the best players in his role if he gets going and with him being available on a free, Arsenal should snap him up before some other club comes calling.

3. Nabil Fekir

The Gunners might have a lot of attacking flair, but they still need a striker who can provide Olivier Giroud with a partnership or even cover if the French striker is injured. Fekir has been turning heads in Ligue 1 and has taken Lyon close to the top of the standings. His partnership with Lacazette is one of the best in the league and the 21-year-old can also play in the wider positions.

Fekir earlier had stated or at least his father had that if he was to ever move away from the club, it would only be for Arsenal that should be enough for the speedy and crafty attacker to be on top of the wish list for many Arsenal fans.
