3 Manchester United Players Who Might Be The First To Face The Axe From Jose

Share

Jose Mourinho’s arrival at Manchester United has seen the Red Devils sign three players already, center-back Eric Bailly, striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Portuguese manager has some big plans for his new club and will look to add the right set of stars to his current squad.

For that purpose, United have been keeping tabs on a lot of talented stars and deals could possibly go through for a few more players in the upcoming days.

However, with reinforcements coming in, it becomes quite essential for the boss to sell as well and here are three players in Mourinho’s current squad that he might sell:

3. Juan Mata:

The Spaniard was made an outcast by Mourinho during the time they were together at Stamford Bridge and eventually sold to United, where he took his time to settle in. After finally registering a place in the starting eleven under Van Gaal, Mata will now possibly have to look for another club that he can move to, with his former boss in charge at the Theater of Dreams and not willing to make him a part of his plans.

Everton were said to have an interest in acquiring the midfielder’s services, with Ronald Koeman taking over the club recently. The player could add some much needed flare to the Toffees’ squad, with the club expecting better results from the ex Southampton main-man. It will be advisable for Mourinho to sell Mata, as the two might not be able to work together efficiently due to the differences that they have had.

2. Sergio Romero:

Another player that should be sold this summer is Argentine international Sergio Romero, whose team lost the Copa America title for the second year running. Though the 29 year old goalie recently suggested that he had taken Mourinho’s arrival quite positively and as an opportunity to regain a place in the starting eleven, the fact remains that it will be next to impossible to displace David de Gea from that spot, who was superb in the Euros as well for Spain.

It will be in the best interest of the former Real Madrid and Porto manager to avoid doing what Van Gaal ended up doing. With the Victor Valdes situation already blown out of proportion, prior to the former Barcelona man’s exit from the club, Mourinho will not want something like that to happen during his reign. Romero is still 29 and is really talented and the club should consider cashing in on him and sign a young replacement, who will not only make a good under-study to De Gea, but can have a long term future at the club.

1. Adnan Januzaj:

The third and final player should be Adnan Januzaj, who made his return to the club after being convinced by Van Gaal. However, the Dutchman did not keep his word and the Belgian international spent most of his time on the bench once again. Nothing changed and the player would have been really frustrated, with his time on the sidelines as a mere spectator.

With the number of options that Mourinho already has, the 21 year old winger will fall further down the pecking order. Jesse Lingard’s goal in the FA Cup final, which won United the title will have already made him a favourite over some of his team-mates.

The player is expected to have talks with the new boss regarding his future in the upcoming days, as per claims. In the best interest of the player and the club, a move away is recommended, as Januzaj will not be seeing much action once again in the upcoming campaign.
