Three Ideal Destinations For Newcastle United’s Elias Sorensen

Newcastle United’s talented young reserve striker Elias Sorensen has shown a real passion this season to break into the first-team on Tyneside and has been impressing at lower levels. The 18-year-old forward joined the Toon in summer 2016 from HB Koge and has risen through the ranks from under-18 football to the under-23 side this season.

At under-18 level, Sorensen has scored 10 times in 13 matches and very much looks ready for the step up, with the player himself stating that he wants to score goals at St. James’ Park and telling how big a deal that is for him. It is very much hoped that Newcastle would be in a more comfortable position next season in order for Rafa Benitez to be in a position to throw caution to the wind and allow more young players a chance of first-team football.

Should that not occur and should Sorensen find his development being stunted by a lack of first-team opportunities, then he will be forced to leave, as so many would be.

Given that it’s likely he will be allowed to go on loan to get experience if first-team opportunities don’t come knocking, then here are three good options for him:

Rangers

The Scottish Premiership side are looking to close the gap on Celtic and should be involved in European football next season. The chance to play against some of Europe’s best but also be in an attacking team winning most of their games domestically could be ideal for the young man and it’s easy to see a deal being done with the Glasgow side.

Fulham

This is on the assumption that they are still playing Championship football next season and that Slavisa Jokanovic remains their manager. Fulham play a very attacking style of football and afford their forward players plenty of scoring chances, something which would do the confidence of a young striker like Sorensen a world of good.

Middlesbrough

The Teessiders are a lot less attack-minded but the major advantage they have is where they are situated in the world – just an hour’s drive from Newcastle. If it is seen that Sorensen needs to remain settled in Newcastle but must play his first-team football elsewhere for a little while, then Boro could be perfect.

Sammy Ameobi spent some time on loan at the Riverside a little while back and it did wonders for his development.  Ameobi, although not a Premier League player anymore, is playing the best football of his life right now and it’s owed in some part to his temporary spell here.
