3 Falcao Replacements For Manchester United: Could This Belgian Be The Answer?

Share

Just four goals all season for one of the deadliest strikers in the World, the Manchester United chapter in Radamel Falcao’s book will not be present with too many great things. Unfortunately for the Colombian, he just could not get going in the Premier League for Louis Van Gaal’s side and couldn’t seal a permanent move to United after being sent on loan by Monaco.

As Falcao now returns to Monaco and prepares for the Copa America, Manchester United will no doubt be planning to buy a replacement for the striker. Sure, Falcao didn’t really do a lot during his time at Old Trafford but with Robin Van Persie also misfiring this season, the onus is on Manchester United to sign a striker and fast. They didn’t have the firepower and will not be looking forward to another season where they are not sure of who will score those goals for them.

Manchester United have always had great strikers at the club and next season should be no different. With Wayne Rooney leading the line, we look at 3 options for the Red Devils as they prepare to challenge for the title next season.

1. Edinson Cavani

Cavani (with Ibra)

The rumours linking Cavani with a move away from PSG just do not stop, he might have won another French League title but Cavani would be hoping to prove his talents in a tougher league. Cavani was touted to leave Paris in the January transfer window but ultimately stayed at the club. He is one of the best strikers in the World and a partnership of Rooney and Cavani would be devastating in any league. The only issue we see from this deal is the ludicrous amount that United would have to pay to get him but they do have Angel Di Maria who is wanted by PSG, it could be a deal in the making.

2. Christian Benteke

Christian Benteke

The hottest striker in the second half of the season, Benteke was the reason Aston Villa not only survived relegation from the Premier League but also reached the FA Cup final. He scored 12 goals in 12 games and at only 24-years of age, he still has time to develop and blossom further. Fast, strong in the air and with an eye for goal, there really is nothing that Benteke cannot do. Villa want close to £32.5 million for him, which might be a little expensive but he could become one of the best strikers in the league and United do have the bucks to spend on signing someone who they want.

3. Javier Hernandez

Chicharito

For some reason, Hernandez is not expected to perform at United. He was loaned out to Real Madrid, although he did not set La Liga on fire with his goal scoring exploits, well no one can really do that well at Madrid when you have the likes of Benzema, Ronaldo and Bale running riot, he should be thought of as an option to join forces with Rooney. Hernandez was always in the goals, especially in his first season for United and in the next 3 seasons he saw his playing time curtailed but he still ended up scoring 39 goals, which isn’t a bad return. If Louis Van Gaal gives him a chance, Hernandez and Rooney could be a formidable partnership for next season.
