A 20-year Old With 4 Goals This Season – A Good January Buy For Arsenal?

So lately, there have been several guys linked with the Gunners (at least half a dozen), and it’s getting hard to tell between rumours and actual moves, but a name that’s been gaining more and more strength during this upcoming days is Benfica’s winger Goncalo Guedes.

Guedes is yet another greatly talented player from a Benfica team who are probably going to lose most of their core to the Premier League, as names of the likes of Victor Lindelof and Nelson Semedo are also being closely scouted by the premier league teams. Goncalo Guedes is a 20-year-old Portuguese wonder kid who has been one of the most important players for a Benfica team. Being featured more than 22 times so far this season and even been called to represent the Under 20s Portugal national team, his rise has nothing but phenomenal.

He’s a very versatile striker, being able to play as a 10 or as a 9, but earning most of his playing time as a right winger. His best ability is his passing, as he thrives while creating chances for his teammates with his ability to hold on to the ball and find spaces over the pitch, although he’s only been able to record a couple of assists over the course of the season to go along with 4 goals.

However, he still needs a lot of improvement to do, especially when it comes to finishing, as he often tends to overdo things or freeze over pressure, but that’s something that can be easily fixed considering how young he is.

Nevertheless, we find it kind of difficult to find him a spot in Arsenal’s starting XI or even on the bench, as he actually doesn’t provide anything different from other Arsenal players like Iwobi, Lucas Perez or Oxlade-Chamberlain, so signing him wouldn’t make a lot of sense unless they are ready to send him away on a loan.
