Two signings Watford must make in the winter transfer window

Watford have undoubtedly been the surprise package of the 2018/19 Premier League season so far. The Hornets have made a superb start to their campaign under new head coach Javi Gracia, winning four out of first seven games.

Gracia has made a strong impression in the English Premier League and while his team have started extremely well this season, there is certainly room for improvement at Watford. And to keep pace with the top sides, Gracia has to take a dip in the January transfer market to add a couple of fresh faces.

After their quick start, Watford have undoubtedly given themselves the perfect platform to build a successful campaign. But to sustain the challenges throughout the season, they would need more quality in the squad.

That being said, here are two signings Watford must make in January.

Callum McGregor (Celtic)

Callum McGregor was one of the stars in Celtic’s completion of double treble last season. He is a versatile central midfielder who is also capable of operating on either flank. He is highly rated in Scotland and that’s been the case for a number of years.

The Scotsman, blessed with a fantastic technique and body control, would bring creativity and flair to Watford. McGregor would soon be entering the prime years of his career and Watford must make a move for him in January, although Celtic would be reluctant to lose him halfway through the season.

Mbaye Diagne (Kasimpasa)

Mbaye Diagne is running riot at the moment in the Turkish Super League, banging goals left, right and centre.

Diagne is a ruthless finisher in front of the goal and his work rate is extraordinary. The Senegalese is all about pace, power and physicality, which would make him a perfect fit for the Premier League.

Despite already possessing the likes of Andre Gray, Troy Deeney, Stefano Okaka and Isaac Success, there’s no reason why Diagne wouldn’t be a useful addition for Watford. He would be able to settle into the side quickly due to his qualities.

The 26-year-old Senegalese could become a very useful asset and would be able to prove himself in the Premier League.
