2 Ideal loan destinations for Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham

Tammy Abraham has arguably been one of Chelsea’s academy’s brightest prospects over the past few years. However, the highly rated forward at youth level has never really come in with a shout for a place in the first-team.

Although he made his debut in the 2015/16 season, he has managed only two appearances for the senior team and has mostly remained unused on the fringes.

The young Englishman has also emerged as a prolific goalscorer on the international stage, having played for England at the U18, U19, U20 and U21 levels.

The 20-year-old has quick feet and can dribble his way past the opposition defenders in the attacking third. Not only does he excel with his positional sense in the final third but also has the ability to play clever through balls for his teammates. Being good in the air, he constantly tends to pose a threat to the opposition in the penalty area.

With Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud in the ranks, the youngster is unlikely to get enough game time under his belt. It wouldn’t do him much good to stay at Stamford Bridge as the lack of regular minutes is going to hamper his progress.

He has already had loan spells at Swansea City and Bristol City in the last two seasons and Chelsea should try to find him another club this year before the transfer window closes.

Here are two ideal loan destinations for the promising 20-year-old.

Reading

Paul Clement’s side have made a shocking start to their campaign in the Championship, having suffered three defeats in the first five games and registering just two points. They currently sit 23rd in the table with the dark clouds of relegation looming big already.

In the game against Bolton, Clement went in with Sam Baldock as the lone man up front. In the  match against Nottingham Forest, he used Iceland international Jon Dadi Bodvarsson to partner Baldock up front but the move did not click as both seemed to have little communication between them.

Tammy Abraham

Reading have struggled to score goals and Tammy Abraham could be an ideal choice for the club as he can provide some much-needed edge to their attack. He is someone who has the ability to inject some energy into the game and can make things happen.

A loan stint at Reading will also be perfect for Abraham as he is likely to make his cut into the playing eleven more often than not.

QPR

Steve McClaren’s team are currently placed 22nd on the Championship table, having crumbled to 4 defeats in 5 games. They have conceded as many as 13 goals and have scored only 2.

The manager has tried to rotate his strikers up front, with Idrissa Sylla, Luke Freeman and Matt Smith all involved. Surprisingly, none of them has managed to make any significant impact.

Tammy Abraham

Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham should be a perfect loan candidate for Mcclaren’s side if they are to solve their goalscoring issues. On the other hand, Abraham would get regular minutes under his belt as there is not a lot of competition for places.
