Manchester United opinion: Should the Red Devils go for Steven Bergwijn?

There is not much more that anyone can really say about Manchester United after the season they have had. It’s been an absolute rollercoaster of a season for the Red Devils and that needs to change in the near future, especially if they want a chance of succeeding in the future.

The Red Devils have high hopes for their future. Their struggles this season have been widespread and not just contained to one single area of the teamsheet.

If it was, then it would have been a rather simple solution, they’d only need to add a few world class replacements as Manchester City did.

But for Manchester United to succeed, they need a whole lot more than a few world-class stars. Their back-line is in shambles barring Luke Shaw. Their midfield isn’t any better and their front-line is potentially on it’s way out with Romelu Lukaku revealing a desire to play in Italy.

Not to mention, their squad barring a few stars here and there, are ageing with the likes of Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia. It shows how badly things have changed for the club and why they need to start looking for stars to help change that.

The Mirror has reported that the club are interested in a move for Steven Bergwijn. The PSV Eindhoven star has been exceptional alongside Hirving Lozano this season, although, many believe he has been better. So far, the 21-year-old has scored 15 goals and created 13 in all competitions.

It shows just how talented and prolific the Dutchman can be. His goals have come at the most opportune times for PSV Eindhoven, which includes a brace against Excelsior, a winner against De Graafschap, and many more over the season.

It’s why a move for Manchester United makes a lot of sense, especially with the Red Devils’ issues up front. The likes of Jesse Lingard, Alexis Sanchez and even Anthony Martial have all struggled to do much for the club, with Lingard and Sanchez the prime suspects.

Together, the two have managed to net just five goals, with Martial scoring double that alone. Steven Bergwijn has contributed to nearly double that amount and it’s a perfect time for him to seek a move.

The Mirror has further reported that the Eredivisie club are ready to let him go and it’s high time Manchester United make the move.

Conclusion

Manchester United need reinforcements, especially if they ever want to win another Premier League title in the near future. Steven Bergwijn has that potential within him.
