Dutch news outlet Football Oranje has reported that Ajax star David Neres has attracted interest from Premier League side Everton. In what has been his best season for the Dutch giants, the young forward has contributed to 25 goals this season, scoring 11 and assisting 14 so far.
He has been in incredible form and his talents were on full display for the world, against Real Madrid. While Dusan Tadic won most of the plaudits for his performance on the day, David Neres was a close second, with the 22-year-old showcasing exactly what he is capable of.
Neres gave three-time Champions League winner Dani Carvajal nightmares on the day, twisting and turning him into a pretzel. It showcased exactly what Neres was capable of but it was his opening goal that showed both his skill and effectiveness.
He scored a delightful chip against Thibaut Courtois to start the proceedings and has continued his fine form since.
So far this season, most of the attacking burden has been left to Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison. They’ve both managed to score 24 goals and 6 assists between themselves so far.
It shows exactly why the club needs another winger and few players in the world would be as good as David Neres for the Evertonians.
Everton added some high-quality players in the summer of 2018. The likes of Lucas Digne, Richarlison, and Yerry Mina arrived, proving themselves to be brilliant additions.
However, given Everton’s lofty ambitions to make it to the Europa League or even the top-4, they need more players. David Neres has proved that he can do it on the biggest stage. Former Arsenal man Theo Walcott started the season well but hasn’t hit the same kind of form since.
The Toffees cannot afford to continue wasting money if they are to punch above their weight.

David Neres is a class act and has the potential to become a great player but only if he makes the right career choices. He could stay at Ajax but it’s time for the Brazilian to move forward in his development. A move to England is exactly what he needs.
