Memphis Depay
It was being stated by the Dutch media around a week ago that Manchester United’s Memphis Depay has really struggled due to the pressure of his number 7 shirt. The news was followed by something similar in the British media as well, which speculated that the 21-year-old winger was having trouble dealing with the pressure that the shirt brings.
Spanish newspaper Marca’s Tuesday edition, an entire page was dedicated to the situation, which suggested that the Dutch international was struck by the Red Devils’ number 7 curse, which was not helping him settle into life in England. The report further added that United have had a club curse with the number 7 shirt since June 2009 when Cristiano Ronaldo left Old Trafford to join La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Well, it is not certain what is to be made of such stories, though there has been a huge dip in for in recent weeks for the attacker, who started off quite well for the Premier League giants since his move from PSV Eindhoven.
