Three Reasons Why Tottenham Hotspur Can Be The First Team To Beat Manchester City In The Premier League

Tottenham Hotspur will face a massive test on Saturday as they travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Pep Guardiola’s high-flying Manchester City. They are now on an unbeaten 15-game streak in the Premier League, which is quite a feat considering how strong almost every team has been so far. City seem to show no signs of slowing down and the scales do seem tipped in their favour. After all, they have a blistering attack filled with some of the most lethal forwards. Their midfield is bossed by players who seem to have mastered their skills and their defenders have been quite solid as well. In Ederson, they have a goalkeeper committed enough to do everything to stop a shot from going in.

Yet, can Tottenham possibly be the one to bring an end to their sublime season so far?

Resilience, perseverance and power – these are 3 words that describe Tottenham under Pochettino and quite aptly so. Nobody can underestimate Spurs – they have been punished heavily in the past for doing so. Guardiola will certainly be aware of the threat that they pose but can the Lilywhites actually notch up a win? Here are 3 reasons that suggest that they can.

Spurs Can Cause Some Nasty Upsets – Ask Real Madrid!

Spurs have been a remarkable team under Pochettino’s watchful eyes. He knows what works and how to get the best out of his players and that has paid off in dividends for the club so far. Even last year, they brought about a full-stop to City’s momentum and even stunted Chelsea’s advancement. They could do the same to Guardiola’s men this season, especially after decimating both Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid in Champions League matches. They were in a tough group this time and yet they emerged as winners, which goes on to show that they will not fear City on Saturday.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane’s Power

Guardiola’s infamous ‘Harry Kane team’ comment caused quite a bit of a furore amidst Spurs fans. Lately, the emergence of Heung-Min Son has allowed Kane to relax a bit and focus better. He looks lethal even after recovering from a recent injury and this might be time for the Englishman to show City’s manager exactly what he is capable of. He will undoubtedly be the player the hosts would have to watch out for, and knowing Kane, he will be eager to go out there and get his name on the scoresheet.

Spurs’ Resilient Defence

If City are dominant with their attack, Tottenham’s defenders have been known to shine through for their supreme skills at the back. Plus, the support they receive from the likes of Harry Winks and Mousa Dembele is also likely to be a major advantage for them in neutralising the threats posed by Guardiola’s attackers.
