Chelsea’s lack of Champions League may become their bane this season. The Blues are facing a situation where they would require to bid astronomical amount to sign good players and may be forced to lose their players below the market value.
Don’t believe it? Well looks like Juventus does. The Serie A club has been reportedly plotting a £17 million move for Nemanja Matic. The painful part for the Chelsea fans are that the club values the player at £25 million. The good news is that Chelsea are in no rush to sell Matic who has three years left on his contract and will not need to renew his contract immediately as well.
However Chelsea do also have a cause of concern as earlier reports suggested that Manchester United is also interested in Matic. In such a case where United may offer £25m and Juventus offers £17m what would be the right course of action for Chelsea? Lose him at a higher valuation to a domestic rival or lose him for a lower price abroad? If Matic hands in a transfer request, that choice may not be Chelsea’s to make.
