Chelsea have been trying to sign Kalidou Koulibaly for quite some time now. The Napoli defender had also suggested speaking to Antonio Conte earlier but the Blues seem to be taken aback by the fees demanded by Napoli for the defender.
After the £38 million bid fell through for Koulibaly, the Blues are now heading towards Nikola Maksimovic of Torino according to Daily Mail. The player is 24 years old and even though he joined Torino from Red Star Belgrade last season, he impressed at the club and Conte seemed to have noticed it. Point in case is also that he will be much lighter on Chelsea’s wallet, costing approximately only £18.5 million.
Koulibaly may not be a Chelsea target but still is causing complications for the Blues as Everton are trying to sign the Senegalese defender and that means Napoli will require reinforcement. As fate would have it, they are also chasing Maksimovic alongside Chelsea.
