Reports now suggest that Marco Amelia will have a medical examination with Premier League champions, Chelsea, prior to signing a deal with them. The 33-year-old veteran keeper is right now a free agent and was recently invited to train with the Blues as manager Jose Mourinho looks to add more keeping options to his squad, with Belgian international Thibaut Courtois’ recent knee injury which will force him to miss action for several weeks.

Sky Italia reporter Gianluca Di Marzio has stated further that the veteran keeper will be having a medical examination with the west London side and could put stay at the club till the end of the current term.

The former AC Milan star was also wanted by north London outfit Arsenal this summer, with the Gunners eventually bringing Petr Cech to the Emirates. With Asmir Begovic unable to impress under Mourinho, it will be interesting to see how things develop further.
