Another Left Back? Chelsea Set To Go Crazy This January Transfer Window

Share

Premier League champions Chelsea will now look to push through a deal to sign Valencia defender Jose Gaya, when the transfer window opens once again in January. Spanish newspaper Sport have stated that owner Roman Abramovich has backed the move, after the Blues did not have the best of starts to the new campaign.

The west London side are currently in 15th place after beating Arsenal at Stamford Bridge, 8 points behind leaders Manchester City, who lost to West Ham on Saturday evening.

Some pundits already feel that Jose Mourinho’s side have ruined their chances of retaining the title, though nothing is certain in the world of football.

However, irrespective of the way his side are playing at the moment, the Portuguese boss will look to strengthen his squad in the new year. The 20 year old defensive superstar is one of the best in Europe at the moment and is an integral part of the first-team setup for the La Liga giants.

He has played 35 league games last term, in a season which saw them qualify for the Champions League.

Gaya has a release clause of €49m in his current contract, though the Spanish outfit will not want to sell him, whereas Mourinho will be keen on making a bid to get his target.
