Wolves signing this Juventus midfielder could help them take the Premier League by storm

Why Wolves target Stefano Sturaro can take Premier League by surprise

As per reports, Premier League newbies Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro. Sturaro is also wanted by Wolves’ Premier League rivals Newcastle United and Southampton.

Sturaro made 19 appearances for the Turin giants across all competitions last season but failed to register a single goal during the campaign. Due to the presence of Sami Khedira, Miralem Pjanic, Rodrigo Bentacur and Blaise Matuidi in the midfield, the Italian was starved off first-team opportunities and played a bit-part role in the club’s title-winning campaign.

Signed from Genoa in 2014, Sturaro has won four Serie A titles and four Coppa Italia crowns during his time at Juventus. However, he has largely struggled to hold down a regular spot in the team. Due to his irregular game time, the 25-year-old’s career has stagnated and would only be revived if he decides to move away from the Serie A champions.

Stefano Sturaro

Hence, a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers might do Sturaro a world of good as he could reboot his career under the astute Nuno Espirito Santo. Wolves are back in the Premier League after they raced to the Championship title last season. The West Midlands club has done some exciting signings so far but Nuno needs to bring in more quality players to sustain the rigidities of the Premier League.

Sturaro’s addition will undoubtedly bolster Santo’s midfield options going into the new season. Wolves have a host of options such as Romain Saiss, Ruben Neves, Morgan Gibbs-White, Diogo Jota and Pedro Antonio Pereira Goncalves competing for a place in the first-team. Sturaro’s acquisition will definitely improve Santo’s team significantly and add competition for places within the Wolves squad.

Saiss and Neves’ midfield partnership worked wonders for the Wolves last term as the duo worked in tandem, showing a good understanding between them. However, Saiss is a defensive midfielder who is also capable of playing in central defence, meaning Sturaro’s signing could see the Moroccan play in Wolves’ backline.

Ruben Neves

Also, if Santo opts for the 3-4-2-1 formation, the solid midfield base of Saiss and Sturaro would allow Neves greater freedom to express himself in the attack. Neves’ creativity and invention from an advanced role in the midfield would make Wolves quite potent next season.

A strong, energetic, industrious and hard-tackling midfielder, Sturaro would take Wolves to a whole new level in the Premier League. The Italian has shown glimpses of quality during his spell at Juventus and his experience would come in handy for Santo’s side. His presence will not only add steel to Wolves’ midfield but it will also provide Neves with the creative freedom to showcase his class on a regular basis.

So without further ado, Santo must sign Sturaro from Juventus before he gets snapped up by another club.
