Having earned promotion back to the Premier League courtesy a scintillating 2017/18 season, Wolverhampton Wanderers are making the right noises in the transfer market.  

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have managed to get a lot of business done so far. They have signed the likes of Leo Bonatini, Diogo Jota, Willy Boly and Ruben Vinagre on permanent deals after the quartet impressed heavily on loan last season. Another player who starred on loan last season, Benik Afobe, was also signed from Bournemouth only to be loaned out to Stoke City.  

Along with them, Wolves have also landed Mexican forward Raul Jimenez on loan, while signing Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Patricio on a free transfer is easily one of their biggest coups in the window so far.  

There have been a couple of exits from the side as well, with Ben Marshall leaving for Norwich City while defender Roderick Miranda joined Greek side Olympiacos on a season-long loan deal.  

Hence, the Midlands club must pursue more transfers to mount a strong challenge upon their return to the top-flight. And here are three transfer deals Wolves should complete to set themselves up for a solid campaign ahead.

Juan Quintero (FC Porto)

The diminutive midfielder was Colombia’s star in the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia. He has reportedly emerged as a serious transfer target for Santo and Wolves. 

Currently serving a year-long loan spell with Argentine giants River Plate, Quintero has played 16 times for the club, chipping in with a solitary goal and three assists. The 25-year-old ended his World Cup campaign with a goal and two assists in four appearances and was Colombia’s biggest creative threat in Russia.  

Quintero possesses an abundance of skills and tricks with the ball at his feet and excels in one-on-one situations. His close-control, coupled with a natural ability to split open defences with incisive passes, makes him quite an asset. And having a player of his quality could boost Wolves’ chances of a top-ten finish. 

Glen Kamara (Dundee FC)

The 22-year-old former Arsenal man has been linked with a move to the Molineux in the past week and could be a great addition to the ranks this summer.  

Having joined Dundee FC last summer, Kamara was one of the Scottish outfit’s best players in the 2017/18 season. He made 46 appearances across all competitions, providing two assists. A defensive midfielder who can also play as a right-back, the three-time capped Finland international is young, dynamic and would add a lot of energy. 

With Wolves having passed on the opportunity to sign Alfred N’Diaye on a permanent deal, there is a vacant spot in the midfield. And Kamara, with his strength and defensive nous, could prove to be the ideal man to fill in that void for Wolves going forward.  

Andre Gomes (Barcelona)

The Portuguese international is widely expected to leave Barcelona this summer, after enduring two difficult campaigns at Camp Nou. And Wolves have reportedly shown an interest in capturing the midfielder this summer.  

Despite his struggles with the reigning La Liga champions, Gomes is an immensely talented player who has plenty to offer. A naturally-gifted central midfielder, the Portuguese international possesses a great range of passing and has the ability to dictate the tempo from the middle of the park. His move to Barcelona hasn’t worked for a lot of reasons but he could prove to be a sensational deal for the Wolves.

Given the large Portuguese contingent at the club, Gomes shouldn’t find it hard to settle down, making it an enticing prospect for the club to consider.
