Wolves must go all out to sign this 24-year-old defensive beast to make inroads into the PL elite

Why Wallace would be a fantastic addition for Nuno’s Wolves

According to a report from The Daily Mail, Wolves are interested in signing Lazio defender Wallace this summer.

Wallace, 24, is not a key player for Lazio and it makes no sense for them to hold on to him. He made just 20 appearances across all competitions for the Serie A outfit, scoring a goal. The 24-year-old is clearly better off joining a club where he will play more often.

A move to Wolves would be ideal for all parties and the Premier League side just needs to match Lazio’s valuation for the defender.

Wolves were mightily impressive upon their return to the Premier League last season, ending up seventh in the table and qualifying for Europe in the process as well.

The Wanderers fans will have certainly delighted with the recent acquisition of Patrick Cutrone from AC Milan.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have also signed Jesus Vallejo on loan from Real Madrid, but they undoubtedly need more new arrivals as Wolves have Europa League football to contend with this season.

Thus, signing Wallace would be beneficial for Nuno’s side. Jorge Mendes, the famous super-agent, represents Wallace and that would suggest a move is likely since he has been responsible for the transfers of Joao Moutinho, Ruben Neves and Rui Patricio. Nuno has already signed Vallejo on loan but he needs more depth in that position.

Wallace won’t be an upgrade on any of the defenders Nuno currently has at his disposal, but he would be able to provide cover in what could be a highly taxing season.

The Brazilian would have no problems fitting into Nuno’s system, given that Lazio also play with a back-three. Standing at 6ft 3in, he is strong, powerful and a commanding presence who enjoys going toe-to-toe with opposition forwards.

The Rio de Janeiro-born defender, who likes to move forward at every opportunity, searching his attacking teammates with long balls.

He has great ability in the air, while also being a player who can make key interceptions and challenges. Wallace could potentially become a very good player for Wolves if he can iron out a few flaws in his game under Nuno.

The Midlands club need more depth in the squad if Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are to continue the remarkable progress they’ve made in recent years.

Wallace could be a gamble that will most likely pay off, and Wolves must make a move for him ahead of next week’s transfer deadline to give themselves a boost to their top-six ambitions.
