Wolves opinion – Nuno Santo should go for Francisco Trincao in the summer

According to a report in Birmingham Mail, Premier League side Wolves have been linked with a move for Portugal wonderkid Francisco Trincao, who is currently plying his trade at Braga’s B team in the Portuguese second-tier.

The 19-year-old has had a great season in the league, that has attracted interests from some of the big clubs in England and Europe. Apart from Wolves, Manchester United and Arsenal, Italian champions Juventus are also tracking the teenager (h/t Birmingham Mail).

Even though Trincao isn’t getting distracted by the interests, there would be some part of him getting excited by the attraction level his performances has created (h/t Birmingham Mail).

His contract at Braga expires in 2023, but he has a release clause worth €30m that can be activated by a club that is looking to sign him in the upcoming transfer window.

Francisco Trincao

Here’s why Wolves should make sure that Francisco Trincao plays for them come next season:

A quality striker for squad enhancement

Predominantly a striker, Trincao can also play on either wing and impact the game in a positive way. He possesses good pace to make runs in behind a defence and cause trouble.

The teenager is good with the ball at his feet, as he can dribble past people with good regularity to create space for a shot on goal. His height (6ft) helps him to be good in the air and this would help the team in defending and attacking the set-pieces.

Wolves have Raul Jimenez as their main striker in the team, who is well supported by Diogo Jota. The former is on loan from Benfica but he has declared his interest to stay at the Molineux beyond this season.

In spite of that, signing a young Portuguese forward wouldn’t be a bad idea for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men. They can use Trincao as a backup and groom him to develop into a great player in the coming years.

With Nuno being Portuguese and Wolves having many experienced Portugal national team players, the 19-year-old would be able to fit into the environment of the club and carry his development in the right way.

Conclusion

While Wolves would get a quality player who is so young and has enough potential to become a star, Trincao could get the perfect setup to galvanise his development as a player. All in all, this move suits all parties.
