Tottenham travel to the Molineux stadium as they take on the formidable Wolves on Sunday. Jose Mourinho’s men will be going into this game on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the final group stage match in the Champions League.
Mourinho fielded a very young and inexperienced squad against Bayern but it won’t be the same this time around as he is pushing for his side to reach the top four. Despite their poor start this season, Spurs have been able to do well under Mourinho.
This match will be crucial for both sides who are placed 6th and 7th respectively in the league. A win for Tottenham will make it easier for them to leapfrog their opponents on the table.
However, Wolves have become a strong force under Nuno Espirito Santo and are also known to upset the Premier League top six. Nuno’s men will be hoping to beat the Lilywhites and continue their good run of form.
Hugo Lloris is not expected to return any time soon to the squad whereas Michel Vorm has also been out with a calf injury. Thus, Mourinho has to settle for Paulo Gazzaniga.
Harry Winks, Erik Lamela, and Tanguy Ndombele are doubtful for the match against Wolves after each of them picked an injury earlier. No player is out due to suspension.
Despite conceding thrice against the Bavarians, the Argentine did well to stop them from scoring some more. He is expected to retain his spot between the sticks.
Aurier was rested in midweek and will make his appearance against Wolves. He has been in fine form since the inception of Mourinho.
The 23-year-old has done well in the absence of Jan Vertonghen and is the first-choice under the new manager. After being left on the bench against Bayern, he is expected to start at the weekend.
He had a poor outing and was at fault for all the goals they conceded against the Bundesliga Champions. But his experience will be a huge influence coming into this game.
Ben Davies’ injury has prompted Mourinho to push the Belgian from the heart of the defence to the flanks. He would start ahead of Danny Rose, who seems to be far from his best.
The Frenchman should retain his spot and will be looking to make an impact for the team. His goal against Burnley last weekend was stunning and has shown promise in front of the goal.
Dier has been given enough chances by his manager but hasn’t capitalized on it. Injuries to Winks and Ndombele would likely make way for him to start at the Molineux.
The Brazilian looked out of place after he started as the lone striker in the previous match. He would be keen to improve his confidence if he is deployed in his favoured position.
Another absentee in the midweek, Alli has transformed into a key player. He would be their playmaker starring behind Harry Kane in the attack.
The South Korean has been a great asset to Tottenham. His pace and skills have taken his game to the next level. He is an undoubted starter.
Kane is expected to return to the side and lead the team. He seems to have returned to his clinical best with two wonderful goals against Burnley.
