Wlaker And Sissoko To Start – Predicted 4-2-3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Line-Up To Face Chelsea

Share

A brace each from Harry Kane and Dele Alli was enough for Spurs to move into the New Year with 4 back to back victories in the Premier League. Mauricio Pochettino’s side are still on the fringes of a place in the top-4 in the points table – 10 points away from the leaders Chelsea – and they have a great chance to eat into the deposit when they face them at home this week. Chelsea travels to the White Hart Lane for a crucial London derby that can change the complexion of the log. With a lot on line, both teams are expected to go for a victory with the onus on Pochettino to steal points from the Blues.

Here is the strongest lineup that the Spurs manager might field for this game:

Team News:

Pochettino has just one injury problem to worry about ahead of this game as playmaker Erik Lamela is still out of action nursing a hip injury. He was expected to be back after the turn of the year but has very little chance of making it for this game. Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Walker were both absent for the previous game but are expected to start this game against Chelsea.

Formation (4-2-3-1):

Hugo Lloris:

The French international is one of the best shot stoppers in the league and is the first choice for Pochettino this season for the Spurs.

Kyle Walker:

Having missed the last game against Watford, Walker will be fresh and raring to go and will hope to have a good game against Chelsea.

Toby Alderweireld:

A strong performance against the Hornets coming back from injury, Alderweireld will have to play a huge role to keep the likes of Diego Costa away from goal in this game.

Jan Vertonghen:

Another player who missed the previous game for the team, Vertonghen is now back in action and should be pushed into the starting XI for this game.

Danny Rose:

Having put in a decent performance as a wing-back, Rose, =will be back in his natural left-back position and should start this London Derby.

Victor Wanyama:

Put in a superlative effort against Watford and will have to do more of the same against Chelsea if his side are to take anything from this game.

Mousa Dembele:

The Belgian midfielder is the first choice for Pochettino in his position and he should be high on confidence going into this game after a decent performance against Watford.

Christian Eriksen:

The Danish international is an important part of the plans for Pochettino and will be a danger man for the visitors in this game.

Dele Alli:

The English midfielder picked up a brace in the previous game and was subbed off at the hour mark. He should be fit and ready to go for this clash against Chelsea.

Moussa Sissoko:

An unused substitute in the previous game, Sissoko has been effective at times in big games for Spurs and should keep his place in the side for this game.

Harry Kane:

The other player to pick up a brace in the win over Watford, Kane is in a decent goal scoring form for the side and is the biggest threat for Chelsea on the night.
